1/48 Mitsubishi A6M3 Zero Type 22 201st Limited Edition

1/48 Mitsubishi A6M3 Zero Type 22 201st Limited Edition

Late in 1941, Nakajima introduced a new engine, the Sakae 21. The engine which utilized a two speed supercharger increased horsepower to 1,130 and increased high altitude performance. The new Sakae 21 was to be installed in the Japanese Zero to increase the overall evfectiveness against Allied aircraft, mainly the F-4U Corsair and F6F Hellcat. The A6M3 Type 32 with the Sakae 21 had the engine mounts cut down 8 inches, moving the engine further back, due to the fact that the Sakae 21 was a bit heavier and longer than previous Zero powerplants. When the A6M3 Type 21 was introduced, it had moved the main fuel tank from behind the engine and relocating it within the wing, regaining the Zeros range it had lost with the smaller fuel tank from the previous Type 32. The Type 21 also regained it's folding wings, a feature that had been removed in the previous Type 32. Production started in late December of 1941 with a total of 560 aircraft produced. Hasegawa brings you this iconic fighter in limited edition 1/48 scale and comes complete with 68 highly detailed parts. Decals are included to replicate one of two aircraft
