1/450 Carrier Akagi

1/450 Carrier Akagi

The Akagi was laid down as a cruiser but converted to an aircraft carrier while still under construction due to the limitations of the Washington Disarmament Treaty. The Akagi had a 250m long flight deck and in her final configuration could hold 92 planes in her hangar space. The Akagi led the attack on Pearl Harbor and participated in other significant actions during the Japanese advance across the Pacific. The Akagi was sunk, along with 3 other Japanese carriers, by American dive bombers during the Battle of Midway. Model features full, single piece hull with propellers and rudder; detailed superstructure and flight deck with all armament, lifeboats, cranes, and 22 aircraft to display on deck: A6M2 "Zero" fighters (6), Type 97 "Kate" torpedo bombers (8), and Type 99 "Val" dive bombers (8).
