Launched on May 31, 1920, the Japanese battleship Mutsu was the Imperial Japanese Navy’s second Nagato-class battleship. One of the fastest, best-armored battleships of the era, the only time she saw action was during the Battle of the Eastern Solomons in August, 1942. She sunk the following year after a turret magazine spontaneously exploded. Kit features the Z24 Nagato with a new bow, a new front and rear bridge, new front deck and airplane carrier deck parts, photo-etched handrail parts and markings for the I.J.N. Combined Fleet, 1st Squadron, 1941.
