The power behind WWI's most celebrated bipes!
Designed by Pierre Clerget, the 9B was one of the most notable nine-cylinder rotary aircraft power plants produced during WWI. This air-cooled, 130 hp masterpiece was installed in some of the era's most revered fighters, including the Nieuport 17, the Avro 504 and the Bristol M.1 Bullet. The more powerful, 140 hp 9Bf was dropped into the most famous aircraft of all, the Sopwith Camel! Surviving examples include a preserved 9B at England's Fleet Air Arm Museum and a 9Bf at Sydney, Australia's Powerhouse Museum.
