The Messerschmitt Bf109 G or "Gustav" first saw service in mid 1942. G-1 through G-4 variants differed only slightly from the previous F models, with the exception of using the more powerful 1475 PS DB 605 engine. Later G series, G-5 through G-14, were produced in many different variants with updated armament and could have pre-packaged parts added, depending on the aircraft's intended use. Although many of the later G series aircraft had these parts installed, they were not given different variant designations. This Limited Edition Hasegawa model features two of the aircraft that Luftwaffe ace Erich Hartmann flew. Erich Hartmann successfully shot down 352 enemy aircraft before being interned as a POW by the Soviets for ten years. After he was released he went on to serve the Western Germany Air Force before retiring in 1970.
Kit includes 93 parts to build two Bf109s and includes decals for four of Hartmann's aircraft.
